instehandling Jonathan’s Story
Woodworking has been a passion of mine since childhood. As a kid, I followed my father’s lead and learned basic carpentry; ever since then, I have been doing woodworking. I started turning bowls in 1999 after inheriting a lathe from one of my college mentors, Russel E. Reis. He was the inspiration behind the turning studio that I built. There is a special sense of joy that comes with transforming a log from our log pile into something that is attractive and useful instead of throwing it in the chipper or trash. When you hold one of our bowls or play with one of our toys, it is rewarding to know that this did not come from a factory, this came right from our wood pile, outside of our small shop.
